Ghost in the Machine

£45.00
Tax included.

A custom-designed printed circuit board (PCB) reimagining Velázquez's 1632 crucifixion. The board is cut to shape, arms outstretched and held in place with four numbered screws through the hand and foot positions.

The board uses an ENIG (Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold) finish, meaning the gold you see is real gold. It's the same process used in high-end electronics, here catching the light the way gold leaf does in early religious paintings. It's float mounted inside a beige plastic frame, reminiscent of a 90's computer housing. The sculpture can stand up and be displayed on a shelf and also has a small mounting hole of the back to hang it on a wall.

It arrives in a custom ESD bag, the anti-static kind computer components ship in, printed with the Imbue logo on the front and the Ten Commandments written out as computer code on the back. Look closely at the piece itself too. There's more worked into the board than the obvious.

Every piece sold this launch week will be hand-signed on the back.

This is an open edition but stock is produced in small batches and may sell out.

Imbue has been hailed as a ‘brilliant British artist’ on Forbes.com and his past exhibitions featured on The Independent, BBC and Artnet. The artist’s work often features familiar icons with a characteristic twist; we’re talking Coca-Cola bottles fused with the Virgin Mary and the intermingling of science and religion in his Drug Lord editions.
